Baba Rahman has done good things for himself wearing Ghana jersey – Yaw Preko

Former Ghana international Yaw Preko believes Baba Rahman has done good things for himself over the years by wearing the Ghana jersey.

The PAOK man opted not to be considered for selection for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations despite making the provisional squad.

Baba was instrumental for Ghana during the 2015 AFCOn, where he scored his spot kick in shootout defeat to Ivory Coast in the final and was part of the squad that played at the 2022 World Cup, now having 51 appearances for Ghana.

He is being linked to his decision not to be considered for selection due to the booing he faced during his last game for Ghana in September.

However, the 29-year-old has refuted these claims. Since that September game where he played for over an hour and was booed, he hasn't been part of the Black Stars team. Chris Hughton announced the squad on Monday morning, excluding Baba from the team.

In the current season, the ex-Chelsea player has participated in 15 games across all competitions and contributed two assists.

Reacting to Baba’s decision to opt out of the squad, Preko believes he has done some good things for himself over the years.

“He has played for Ghana and has done some good things for himself by going to the World Cup, the time Ghana needed him he was there,” he tols Asempa FM in an interview monitored by FootballGhana.com.

“This time round, if he is not there, somebody will play. It is an opportunity for someone too to shine.”
