Baba Rahman looking for loan option or permanent transfer in January from Chelsea

Ghana international, Baba Rahman is weighing up a loan option or a permanent departure from Chelsea in January after failing to land a move this summer.

The former Dreams FC and Ausberg left-back has been left out of the Blues squad for the ongoing 2020-21 Premier League campaign.

The 26-year-old failed to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day to remain with the club.

Rahman joined the Blues in 2015 in a deal that was reportedly worth £22m, but his Stamford Bridge career has not exactly gone to plan.

The left-back made his only senior Chelsea appearances under Jose Mourinho in the 2015-16 campaign, and since then, he has had a succession of loan spells away from West London.

Two stints in the Bundesliga with Schalke preceded loan periods in France, with Reims, and Spain, with Real Mallorca, but Rahman struggled to make much of an impact at any of his temporary homes.

He returned to Chelsea for pre-season training this summer, but the signing of Ben Chilwell have made it difficult for him to break into Frank Lampard's side.

However, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri are all competing for the same position.

Championship side Middlesbrough had been linked with a move for the Ghanaian but did not materialize as the window shut.

The Ghana international joined Chelsea in a high-profile move back in 2015 but made just 23 appearances in five-years.

He has been shipped out on loan on four occasions, including two spells at German side Schalke, one at French outfit Reims and lately Real Mallorca
