Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Yahaya has pledged to guide his team to a third victory over arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak this year, as the two sides prepare to face off in the inaugural Democracy Cup on July 5, 2025.

The Porcupine Warriors have already secured two wins against Hearts of Oak, both home and away, in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

Speaking to Peace FM, as monitored by Footballghana.com, Yahaya acknowledged the challenge that lies ahead, stating, "We have beaten them twice already, and they will undoubtedly come with a wounded lion's mentality, determined to prevent a third defeat." However, the midfielder remained resolute in his conviction that Asante Kotoko would rise to the occasion.

Yahaya promised the club's supporters that the team would work tirelessly to achieve a "hat-trick of defeats" over Hearts of Oak within the year. This highly anticipated match in the Democracy Cup is set to be a thrilling encounter, as both teams strive to claim bragging rights in this fierce rivalry.
