Middlesbrough attacker Patrick Bamford has backed Steve Agnew to take over the managerial hot seat at the Riverside Stadium on a permanent basis.
Steve Agnew was appointed as manager of Middlesbrough on a caretaker basis following the sacking of Aitor Karanka back in March, but the 51-year-old did not enjoy a productive spell, guiding Boro to only one victory in 11 matches and ultimately failing to prevent the club from suffering relegation.
Despite the poor performance from Agnew, veteran Stewart Downing recently backed the ex-Sunderland midfielder to be handed the Middlesbrough job on a permanent basis and now striker Patrick Bamford has delivered similar support to the Boro caretaker boss.
Bamford said: "I know all the lads want to play for Aggers. We all have to come together, the staff, the players, and we will have a great chance of bouncing back. The positives are that we have the core of a good team.
"We have plenty of players who know the Championship and what it requires. It is a mental grind as well as a physical test, it's really tough league but we have players used to it."
