Barca move right for De Jong

Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong says he is confident that he has made the right choice by agreeing a big-money summer move from Ajax to Barcelona.

The highly-rated 21-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with Barca, with an initial fee of 75million euros involved in seeing De Jong head to Spain at the end of the current campaign.

The transfer fee will not impact me, I will just do my own thing.

And the five-time Netherlands international is happy that his future has been sorted, with De Jong confirming that both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City had been interested in his services.

He told NOS: "I am happy, proud and also somewhat relieved it is now completed.

"I had spoken to PSG, but my agent told them that I would not be moving. I had also spoken to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

"I am very happy and proud that both those clubs wanted to sign me and others too, but Barcelona have wanted me for a long time.

"They have always been my dream club, they have always been serious about signing me and I always watched them when I was younger, which turned me into a fan.

"The transfer fee will not impact me, I will just do my own thing."

Ajax are currently in second place in the Eredivise, two points behind PSV Eindhoven, with third-placed Feyenoord some nine points adrift of the Amsterdammers.

Ajax are priced at 1/1 to be crowned Dutch champions this season, with PSV available at 4/5.
