Barcelona have joined the battle for Estudiantes midfielder Santiago Ascacibar.

The 20 year-old's agent has confirmed offers are now flooding in from across Europe ahead of the summer market.

Don Balon says Barca are keen, viewing Ascacibar as a potential replacement for veteran Javier Mascherano.

Estudiantes rate the youngster in the €6 million class.

"We are looking to get out and we are convinced that yes, he will leave this summer," said his agent Facundo Fraga.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone recently declared Ascacibar as being "the player with the most potential and is the future of Argentine football."
