A strong start to this Serie A season has put Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs, most notably LaLiga champions Barcelona.

The 23-year-old’s form so far this season has surprised many, given he arrived in Liguria for under €4 million this past summer from Polish side KS Cracovia.

Barcelona sporting director Ramon Planes was in attendance at the Mapei Stadium on Sunday for the Grifone’s 5-3 defeat at the hands of Sassuolo, in which Piatek scored twice.

Piatek, whose name is pronounced ‘Piontek’, bagged 32 goals in 65 games while in the Polish league with Cracovia before sealing his move to Serie A.

His debut in Italian football was a success, scoring four times in a Coppa Italia victory over Lecce and also netting in his Serie A bow against Empoli.

Impressively, Piatek already has more goals than last season’s top scorer at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with Gianluca Lapadula finding the net just six times throughout 2017/18.
