Barcelona Said to Be Growing Frustrated With Neymar Attitude After Lean Goalscoring Run

Published on: 04 January 2017

After a tricky end to 2016, things appear to be going from bad to worse for Barcelona star Neymar, with reports that the club's management are getting fed up with his very public rockstar lifestyle.

Reports in Spain claim that the club found one particular picture - of himself and his friends relaxing by a swimming pool while Barcelona teammates prepared to face Hercules in the Copa del Rey - disrespectful, withOKDiariohead honchoEduardo Inda saying that some figures in the Barca hierarchy are 'very angry' with the Brazilian.

"In the club's directors they are very angry with Neymar," he explained, "becausethey think that he has not been careful on social networks whilehe has gone on vacation. He has exhibited excessively, while his teammates were playing the Cup. The picture in a pool hours before [Barcelona] played in the Copa del Rey showed a lack of respect for his peers."

Neymar missed the match, along with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique, after the club allowed him to leave early ahead of the Spanish season's winter break, but his apparent lack of regard for his teammates has rubbed some up the wrong way.

It has been a while since Neymar last scored a goal for Barcelona:

The revelations leave Neymar starting 2017 with almost as many worries as he ended 2016 - still waiting to break an 11-week run without a goal in all competitions for his club after a slow start to the season.

The youngest prong of Barca's famed 'MSN' trident has still been chipping in with regular assists, but his lack of both goals and discipline - picking up six bookings in his last nine games - will be a growing source of concern for both club and individual if they continue much longer.
