Barcelona Star Neymar Set for Trial Following Corruption Allegations Concerning Transfer to Nou Camp

Barcelona star Neymar could be set for an appearance in court following corruption allegations concerning his transfer to the Catalan club in 2013.


The Brazilian international arrived at the Nou Camp following a move from Brazilian side Santos, with the supposed initial transfer fee coming in at €57.1m.


However, after further reports in the days after the deal was made, it was revealed that the transfer had actually cost them €86.2m, with €40m being paid to Neymar's parents.

The club were eventually charged €5.5m with tax fraud, however according toBBC Sport, the 24-year-old is set to receive further punishment after a Spanish judge deemed that the player will receive corruption charges following further irregularities in his transfer to the La Liga champions.


Further reports have suggested that Brazilian investment group DIS - who owned the the player's transfer rights -were alleged to have received 40% of the reported €57.1m transfer fee, however they supposedly received a smaller sum.

The prosecutors against the Barcelona goalscorer now have 10 days to put together a case for a judicial trial to charge Neymar with fraud, as well as chargehis father and current and former Barca presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell with similar cases.


Neymar has been in fine form for the Catalans this season already, scoring four goals in nine appearances in La Liga, taking his total for Barcelona to 59 goals in 102 appearances, picking up two Spanish titles and the Champions League in the process.
