Barcelona's Luis Suarez Admits to Getting Deliberately Booked So He Doesn't Miss El Clasico

Published on: 06 November 2016

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has shockingly confessed that he deliberately received a yellow card in the 2-1 win over Sevilla in order not to miss upcoming games against Real Sociedad and Real Madrid.

The Uruguayan forward played a huge role in Barcelona's comeback, scoring the winning goal after Lionel Messi equalised just before half-time.

Suarez was in the spotlight again in the 89th minute after berating the referee for a decision, picking up his fifth booking of the season in the process.

The booking, which many have described as a deliberate way of earning a suspension, means that Suarez will miss next week's clash with Malaga, leaving him fit and ready to play against Real Sociedad and arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Luis Suarez: "The yellow card suspension is good because the difficult games against Sociedad and Madrid come and I'll be clean."

After the game Suarez surprisingly admitted to the deliberate yellow-card, claiming that 'it will be good not to miss El Clasico'.

Suarez pretty honest on Spanish TV "Obviously the yellow card will be good, as they are two tough games at Anoeta and the Clasico."

Suarez is known for temperament issues and a tendency to bend the rule-book, but it's one thing to break the rules and it's another to blatantly admit breaking them.

The result sees Barcelona go within two points of league-leaders Real Madrid, and with Los Blancos next two away games against Atletico and Barcelona, we could be set to see a major shift at the top of the La Liga table.
