Bayern Munich Captain Philipp Lahm Admits Players Are Still Learning New Style Under Carlo Ancelotti

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has admitted that the players at the club are still working to adapt to the change in style since new managerCarlo Ancelotti arrived last summer.

The Bundesliga champions trailed newly promoted RB Leipzig for the majority of the season before the winter break, but now find themselves three points clear at the top.

And Lahm has revealed that there has been a change in approach sinceAncelotti took over from previous coach Pep Guardiola.

"In the last three years, we have played with a lot of possession," he told theBayern official website."When our opponents had the ball, we wanted to press them aggressively to win it back as soon as possible.

"Now under Carlo Ancelotti, we play more patiently, but we have to learn that. When opponents had the ball for longer periods, we became a bit uneasy as we weren't used to it.

"We have to keep working on this mix of attacking with aggression, sometimes withdrawing and relinquishing the ball to the opposition, shutting up shop and then countering quickly.

"Ancelotti has brought his own characteristics with him, just like any other coach. Every coach has his own way of addressing players “ some are a bit calmer, some shout a lot more in training.

Asked about the title challengers in the Bundesliga this season, he added:"I see the most quality in Dortmund's team, but they dropped some points in the Hinrunde, which surprised me.

"Leipzig have established themselves at the top. But we're not even halfway through the season, there's still a long way to go. We'll see who's still up there after the next five to ten games."
