Bayern Munich Follow Up Lewandowski Contract Extension by Tying Down Key Defender Until 2018

Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha has signed a new deal with club, keeping him at the Bundesliga giants until 2018.


Bayern revealed the news via Twitter, with Rafinha now set to extend his spell at the club. The Brazilian joined the side back in 2011 from Serie A teamGenoa, having previouslyplayed for Bayern's rivals Schalke.

The 31-year-old has largely featured as a backup to Bayern captain Philipp Lahm, but he has still managed to rack up 124 league appearances for the current Bundesliga champions, scoring three goals and winning the league four times, as well as the Champions League in 2013.


This contract extension comes three days after the announcement of anew deal for Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski, who is set to stay in Munich until 2021. Both will hope to be involved when Bayern take on Darmstadt in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
