Bayern Munich are reportedly in the process of preparing to announce that star striker Robert Lewandowski has agreed a contract extension at the club, in bid to detract potential suitors, according to German publicationBild.

The Poland international, 28, is understood to been in prolonged negotiations stretching to over six months, despite having just signed a new five-year contract two years ago.

The former Borussia Dortmund hitman had been strongly linked with a move to Champions League winners Real Madrid throughout the summer, but Bayern were adamant that the forward would not be moving to La Liga.

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germainhave been reported to have an interest in the 28-year-old, while Manchester City and former Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his admiration for his former player.

But the Bavarian giants remained resolute in their stance over Lewandowski's future during the summer in light of the exit rumours, with Bayern chiefs insisting the Polish star will remain at the Allianz Arena.

And while the player's agentMaik Barthel has played down suggestions that an agreement has been reached between the two parties, details of his reported new contract extension have emerged in German media outlets.

Lewandowski is said to be earning an estimated £8.5m a year on his current deal with Bayern, but his new extension will reportedly fetch him an estimated £13m salary.

And according to reports, the deal, which will see Lewandowski potentially remain at the club until 2021, will be announced by club chiefs at Bayern's AGM next month where they are likely to announce two other contract extensions.

The contracts of both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are set to expire next summer and they both reportedly being lined up for new one-year deals.
