The striker's current contract runs until 2019 but it is understood the club are keen to extend hisstay by another two years, as they recently entered negotiations with the player.

However, the deal hasn't been as straightforward as Bayern would have hoped as Lewandowski continues to stall, amid growing rumours that he wants to leave the club.

After the victory over Augsburg, the forward was quick to rubbish speculation that he wanted to leave, as he called on all those concerned with the club to wait for him to make his decision.

He told German channelTZ, as quoted byFourFourTwo: "One has to be a little more patient.

"No, I have not signed yet, but there will soon be an official communication about the solution, sooner rather than later."

Bayern are also understood to be ready to offer Dutch winger Arjen Robben a new deal despite his chequered past with injuries. The 32-year-old was on the scoresheet in the weekend's 3-1 victory and appears to have rediscovered his fitness, after suffering with numerous injuries in recent seasons.

Bayern Munich's chief executive,Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was asked for his take on the two player's current positions at the club, butremained coy on the contract negotiations, adding: "Do not worry, next season wewill have a great squad."
