Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has insisted they have "no plan B" other than trying to convince interim coach Jupp Heynckes to extend his stay at the Bundesliga champions beyond this summer.
Heynckes, 72, took over until the end of the campaign following the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti the day after a 3-0 Champions League loss against Paris Saint-Germain.
Since taking charge for a fourth term, Heynckes has overseen a remarkable transformation in treble-seeking Bayern's fortunes -- leading the team 16 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and into the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Heynckes has previously ruled out staying beyond the summer. However, Hoeness has not given up hope of convincing his close friend to stay on: "When I stand in front of him, almost naked, perhaps there's a small chance," he said at a Rheinische Post gala dinner in Dusseldorf on Monday.
"Our players love Jupp. We are trying to make him understand that his mission at Bayern is not accomplished yet."
Asked if the club had an alternative to Heynckes, Hoeness added: "No, you can forget about all of them. I hope we can convince him to stay on for another year. There is no Plan B," he said.
Praising the 72-year-old's human touch, Hoeness said that Bayern's board of directors enjoyed a "charmed life" with Heynckes in charge.
"He is a dream for us," he added. "Jupp Heynckes is someone who combines modern management with people skills. We want Jupp to make our transition from older players to the younger generation."
Alluding to reports of unrest during Ancelotti's tenure, Hoeness said: "We don't need to take care of the dressing room any longer, before we had to do that for hours."
