BBC Pundit Garth Crooks Fears Philippe Coutinho Could Leave Liverpool Should Reds Finish Trophyless

Football pundit Garth Crooks believes Liverpool attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho could leave the club if the Reds finish the season without any silverware.

Liverpool have started the Premier League campaign the strongest out of their title rivals, sitting top of the league after 11 games, scoring 30 goals in the process. While their defensive exploits have been widely criticised, the attacking trio of Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been in terrific form, scoring 16 leaguegoals between them.

Coutinho was again in great form during Liverpool's 6-1 win over Watford on Sunday, scoring once and picking up an assist, and was featured in Garth Crooks' team of the week. Explaining his decision, Crooks claimed Coutinho could be lured to a side like Barcelona or Real Madrid should Liverpool be unable to pick up any trophies this year.

"Anyone who regularly reads this feature will know Philippe Coutinho has featured heavily in recent weeks," Crooks wrote on BBC Sport's website.

"Yet October's player of the month is playing so well at the moment it seems quite likely - after Liverpool's performance against Watford - he will receive November's award as well. The only problem with all this attention is it is alerting the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid to the Brazilian's talents.

"Liverpool are riding high at the moment largely because of Coutinho's exploits, but should the Reds fail to win a trophy this season he may end up at a club that can."

Coutinho has so far scored five goals and contributed five assists in the league as Liverpool look to pick up their first Premier League title ever.
