Beleaguered Akunnor rejects Kotoko’s Technical Director role

Published on: 12 July 2019

C.K Akunnor has declined his new appointment by Asante Kotoko as the club’s Technical Director, according to local media reports.

The 44 year old manager was surprisingly axed from his first team duties earlier this month and was replaced with Norwegian tactician, Kjetil Zachariassen.

The Porcupine Warriors then proposed an offer for him to take over in a new capacity.

However, FootballMadeInGhana.com understands that the former AshantiGold gaffer has written back to management rejecting their proposal.

The decision to change his official position from head coach to technical director has been met with unexpected aggression from the club’s fans, with most of them threatening to boycott the club’s games.

Akonnor guided the Porcupine Warriors to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup just two months after his appointment and won the NC Special Competition Tier Two to qualify for next season’s CAF Champions League.
