Benjamin Afutu set to leave Hearts of Oak: rejects three-year contract offer

Published on: 16 August 2021

Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu is set to leave the club after failing to extend his contract, his agent Daniel William Tackie has confirmed.

Afutu played a key role in helping the Phobians win the double, thus the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup.

He made 29 league appearances for Hearts and scored five goals.

"I gave Hearts the consent to register for Africa but I can't tell if they registered him or not but for the contract, I can tell you that we have not signed," Tackie told HOT FM

Hearts have tried several times to extend the contract of Afutu but to no avail due to a disagreement over a clause, leaving the player with only a few months remaining on his contract.

Prior to the start of the second half of the season, the versatile midfielder was said to have traveled to Azerbaijan to finalize a deal, but he subsequently rejoined his colleagues at the Pobiman training grounds.
