Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah has made a return to the Black Stars team ahead of Ghana's AFCON qualifier with Sierra Leone.
Mensah returns to the team after a three-year absence from the team.
His recent fine form for Turkish side Kayserispor made it difficult for coach Appiah to overlook the former Atletico Madrid.
The last time Bernard Mensah earned a call up to the national team was during the era of former coach Avram Grant.
