The Portuguese midfielder only linked up with the City squad at the start of the week having been given extra time off after his Confederations Cup duties with Portugal earlier this summer.

"It was great - I played 30 minutes and enjoyed it," he told City's website.

"The team is fantastic. And I hope in the future we can achieve a lot of things."

Bernardo also revealed he wasn't quite 100 per cent fit but said he was looking forward to integrating with his new team-mates.
