Black Maidens coach Baba Nuhu delighted with first leg win over Liberia

Black Maidens head coach Baba Nuhu is happy to secure a 2-0 first-leg win over Liberia in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifiers at the Antoinette Tubman Sports Stadium on Sunday.

A goal apiece from Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah and Salamatu Abdulai gave Coach Mallam Nuhu’s side a huge advantage ahead of return leg.After a goalless first-half, Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah opening the scoring in the 63rd minute through a direct free-kick before Salamatu Abdulai sealed the win in the 83rd minute of the game.

"I am happy to be here for the second time, yesterday we were here for the pre-match and I made it clear in my opening remarks that we were here for business.

"I told you that Ghana are customers at the U-17 level and indeed we have shown that we were here for business," he said in his post-match interview.

"Even-though we won, I must thank the Almighty Allah. Indeed our team was technically and tactically better than our opponents but that is not to downplay the technical team of Liberia but anybody watching saw that we were ahead of the Liberians."

The Black Maidens will host Liberia in the second-leg in Ghana in two weeks' time.

The team is expected to arrive in Accra on Monday to continue preparations for their remaining matches.
