Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko is optimistic his side will secure qualification to the Olympic Games next year.

Ghana's last participation in the Olympic Games was in 2004, but Tanko believes his team is capable of securing qualification to the Olympic Games.

“I think is a very good experience, we miss out in the Olympic Games in Japan due to one penalty but when I look at this squad, I’m very hopeful that we are going to make it this time”

“Looking at our performance against Egypt and those who will join us, I think this time we are going to make it” he said.

The Black Meteors team will play in Group A alongside Morocco, Congo, and Guinea at the upcoming AFCON U23 tournament.

The much-anticipated AFCON tournament has been scheduled for June 24, 2023 in Morocco, where eight countries will compete for Olympic Games slot.

On Thursday, Ghana U23 held Egypt U23 team to a 1-1 draw at the Alexandria Stadium in a pre-AFCON friendly.
