According to Frederick Acheampong, the chairman of the management committee of Ghana's U23 national team, the Black Meteors, the team will play at least two international friendlies before taking part in the 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Last month, Ghana secured its qualification for the Olympic qualifying tournament by defeating Algeria in the final round of qualifiers over two legs.

Ibrahim Tanko's team will aim to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2024, as the Black Meteors have not qualified for the tournament since 2004, which will be 20 years next year.

Acheampong stated that the team will prepare well for the competition to be hosted in Morocco by playing two international friendlies to get the team ready for the tough competition ahead.

"In-between that, we are looking to play some international friendlies. A minimum of two matches before we enter into the tournament. If anything is confirmed, we would make it public," he told Citi Sports.
