Black Meteors’ win over Algeria was exciting to watch - Yussif Chibsah

Former Ghana U-23 captain Yussif Alhassan Chibsah has described the Black Meteors’ 1-0 win over Algeria in the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying as exciting.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored the only goal as the Ghana U-23 national team secured qualification to this year’s tournament to be hosted in Morocco on a 2-1 aggregate.

Ibrahim Tanko’s side earlier played out a goalless draw in Algeria before wrapping qualification in Ghana four days after.

The player intermediary revealed he would have selected two players from the clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium if he was there to do scouting.

“If I was scouting for players in this game, I would have gotten at least two players from the game,” he told Accra-based Asempa FM.

“The game was a very good game; the composure from both sides, their structure [were very good].

“None of the two sides were doing try and error because when they get the ball and there’s no player to pass to, they keep it. All that excited us those watching.”

Yussif Chibsah was the last player to captain Ghana at the Olympic Games in 2004. The Black Meteors will hope to end the country’s wait to play at another Olympic tournament later this year.
