Ghana’s women’s football team, the Black Queens, has undergone a transformation under the leadership of head coach Nora Häuptle.

The Swiss manager, who was appointed earlier this year, has impressed players with her technical prowess and has succeeded in improving the team’s performance in a short period of time.

Speaking about the impact of the coach on the team on Radio Gold, Black Queens defender, Janet Egyir, said, “Let’s say she has brought in a good impact in terms of our game play, she wants her team to always have possession.

"And she always wants the buildup to start from the back and so she has brought a lot of different stuff.”

The team’s recent 4-0 aggregate win over the Teranga Lionesses in an international friendly is evidence of the progress made under the new coach.

The Black Queens won the first leg 3-0 and secured a slim 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture, both of which were played at the Accra Sports Stadium. Goals from Gifty Assifuah, Grace Asantewaa, and Evelyn Badu sealed the win for the team.

Janet Egyir, who plays as a defender for Israeli Ligat Nashim club Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem FC, is optimistic about the team’s future under the leadership of Häuptle.
