Ghana international Mohammed Salisu will work under new trainer at Southampton following the exit of Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The Austrian gaffer leaves the Saints after their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, which left them in the relegation zone after six losses in nine top-flight games.

Southampton are expected to appoint a new trainer as they seek to turn things around in the ongoing English Premier League campaign.

This means the Black Stars defender will work under a new coach for the remainder of the season.

Salisu was in action when his Southampton side suffered a heavy defeat against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The defender started and lasted the entire duration in the 4-1 defeat at the St Mary’s stadium.

Despite his sides defeat, the Black Stars defender put up a splendid performance despite his side defeat on home turf.

He assisted Southampton’s consolation goal against Newcastle United.

The visitors shot into the lead in the 34th minute through Miguel Almiron. After the break, Chris Wood and Joseph Willock added the sides second and third goals respectively.

In the 89th minute, the home team pulled one back through Romain Perraud after Mohammed Salisu’s assist.

But Bruno Guimaraes scored in the additional minute to seal victory for Newcastle United who have been on top form this season.

Salisu is part of the preliminary squad and will almost certainly make the final list, which will face Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay in Group H.
