Veteran Ghanaian coach, JE Sarpong has suggested that the Black Stars goalkeeping department will need improvement ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Charlton Athletic goalkeeper, Jojo Wollacott has been settled on as the first choice following his heroics against Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers.

The former Swindon Town shot-stopper came under intense criticism following his poor show at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon.

With less than five to the start of the global showpiece, the former Ebusua Dwarfs gaffer believes the goalkeeping department must be improved.

“Our defence has stood the test of time and is likely to improve as time goes on. Goalkeeping is quite stable but needs improvement,” he told Graphic Sports.

Richard Ofori, Abdul Manaf, and Lawrence Ati-Zigi are also part of the Black Stars goalkeeping set-up.

Ghana, who are in Group H will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash with South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

Ghana will wrap up their group stage adventure with their much-anticipated encounter with Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.
