Black Stars initiation dance brings unity and togetherness - Andre Ayew

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has underlined the importance of the initiation dance, claiming is a way of bringing unity and togetherness among players in camp.

Players selected for Ghana for the first time are traditionally put through an initiation as a form of welcoming to the team.

The likes of Mohammed Salisu, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Ransford Yeboah and Stephen Ambrosius all took part in the dance along with their new national teammates ahead of Brazil clash.

Ayew said, "We had a great last night as a team and hopefully these little things help bring more joy and laughter and more unity."

“Unity comes with time and result but when we look at other ways, it’s a great way to bring people together all in one room, laugh and joke and talk about different things because there is more than enough stress for every game. But you can have some time to enjoy."

“It’s been there before I even came to the team. It’s not going to change,” he added.

“It’s a great moment of joy and of bringing each other together — it’s like a tradition and we don’t change those kind of things and I think the guys came in and did their part well.”

Black Stars will take on the five-time champions on Friday, September 23 in Le Harve before travelling to Spain to face Nicaragua on Tuesday, September 27 in Lorca.
