Black Stars: 'It's an honour to play with you for 12 years' - Andre Ayew pays tribute to Asamoah Gyan

Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, has paid tribut to Asamoah Gyan following his retirement from professional football on Tuesday.

Andre made his Black Stars debut in 2007, when Gyan was already four years in the national team.

The duo have since played together up until Asamoah Gyan played his last game for Ghana at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Andre Ayew, 33, eulogized now 37-year-old Gyan for being an example for many in the sport.

"A true warrior who served his nation with so much pride and passion," Andre wrote on Instagram.

"You are and remain a great example to many in this sport. It was an absolute honour to have played 12 years with you in the national team.

"This beautiful game will miss you on the pitch. I wish you all the best in your retirement. YOU ARE A LEGEND.”

Andre Ayew succeded Asamaoh Gyan as captain of the Black Stars ahead of the 2019 AFCON.
