A member of the Black Stars coach search committee, Kojo Addae-Mensah has justified why Otto Addo was offered Black Stars coaching job.

The former Ghana international has been reappointed as the head coach of the senior national team on a 34-month deal with Joseph Laumann and John Paintsil as the first and second assistant coaches with Fatawu Dauda serving as the goalkeeper’s trainer.

Despite over 100 coaches applying for the vacant job, Addae-Mensah, who is the CEO of Databank said Otto Addo has huge experience of coaching.

According to him, Addo steering the team to book the 2022 World Cup qualification was a big deal and merits his comeback since he has a winning mentality.

“There were over 100 applications but Otto Addo impressed me,” he told Kumasi-based LUV FM. “He proved to me that he knew the team and demonstrated what he would have done differently,” he added

“I think Otto Addo started coaching in 2007 at Hamburg. The qualification to the World Cup for me was a big deal and that was critical in proving that he has a winning mentality,” he added.

Otto Addo will be rewarded another 24-month deal if he performs. Meanwhile, Otto Addo has released a 26-man squad for the friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda later this month in Morocco without Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams and Joseph Paintsil.

He will hope to begin his second stint on a winning note as the team set to open camp for the two friendly games.
