Black Stars players return to their clubs after September international break

The Black Stars players that travelled to Ghana for the September international break have reported back to their clubs.

As many as 24 players who ply their trade abroad had to travel home for the crucial clash against the Central African Republic in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

In a game played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi last Thursday, the Black Stars came from behind to beat the Group E opponent 2-1.

The victory qualified Ghana to a 10th straight Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

In addition to the AFCON qualifier, Ghana played against Liberia in an international friendly match on Tuesday.

Most of the Ghanaian players abroad who travelled to Ghana for the September international break had the opportunity to feature in that game.

Following an improved performance, the Black Stars cruised to a 3-1 win at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the last 24 hours, the players have returned to their clubs and now looking forward to featuring in upcoming league matches this weekend.

The two local players who featured for the Black Stars, Hamid Fatawu and Jonathan Sowah have both also reported to Medeama SC as the team prepares for the CAF Champions League game against Horoya AC.
