Black Stars to receive lowest bonuses in the last decade

Published on: 03 September 2016

Ghana will pay the Black Stars players their lowest bonus in more than 10 years should they beat Rwanda in their final AFCON 2017 qualifier against Rwanda.

Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuaye has stated that the players will be paid $2,500 as winning bonus.

The build up to the game has been about off field issues with the most notable been the foreign based players having to fund their own air tickets for the game.

"Since they’ve decided out of their own volition to sacrifice for the nation by paying for their tickets, then they should be ready to take what we have for them as well,” Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye told the Graphic Sports.

"I also hope the players would not use it as an excuse to boycott any future match and hold the nation to ransom like it happened in Brazil."

Hon Nii Lante Please RESIGN!!!!. You are acting short sighted. Don't you know that before any team become world beaters, it is a combination of diverse multiple building blocks that precipitates into a formidable team?. Your actions and statements are already eroding these complex building blocks. Just as Ghana is getting there, Nii Lante you have come to destroy them. But for Nii Lante Ghana could easily reach the Semis of the World Cup this season. Your strategies to reduce fund outflow to the Senior National team will cause more harm than good. BAD STRATEGY You are destroying Ghana football. what you are doing doing can take Ghana 50 years back. Please step down, I have said it. ..
