Bluebirds snap up Bacuna

Published on: 01 February 2019

Leandro Bacuna has welcomed the opportunity to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with Cardiff City after joining the Bluebirds from Reading.

The 27-year-old Curacao international joins Neil Warnock's team for an undisclosed transfer fee, subject to international clearance.

Bacuna spent four years at Aston Villa, featuring in 116 league games for the club, before signing for Reading in the summer of 2017.

He enjoyed an 18-month spell with the Royals, starting 52 Championship games for the club, but is excited about the prospect of starting a new chapter of his career in Wales.

Bacuna said: "A few weeks ago, I was made aware of some interest and it has all gone from there. I am very happy and looking forward to getting started.

"Every game I play I give 100 per cent, and I will be fighting hard to help our team.

"I have played against the manager and you can see he always wants to win. He is so passionate. It is going to be great to work underneath him and hopefully he will push me on as a player."

Cardiff, who lost 2-1 at Arsenal on Tuesday, can be backed at 1/3 to be relegated this season, while they are 9/4 to beat Bournemouth on Saturday.
