Bobby Wood again sidelined by knee irritation for Hamburg

Bobby Wood has found it difficult to stay in the Hamburg lineup this season.

United States international Bobby Wood will miss Hamburg's Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday night, the German club have confirmed to ESPN FC.

Wood, 25, already failed to make Saturday's match day squad against Wolfsburg with knee problems, and despite joining his teammates for a training session on Monday, he has now been ruled out of the tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.

As earlier reported by Hamburger Morgenpost, Wood will not make Tuesday's match day squad because of a knee irritation.

The United States international has endured a difficult 2017. This term, he has netted only once in 12 Bundesliga appearances for his club. In the calendar year, Wood has struck five goals in a total of 30 matches in all competitions.

In recent weeks, HSV coach Markus Gisdol moved Wood to a deeper role behind the club's shooting star Jann-Fiete Arp, but his struggles continued.

Knee problems have clouded the attacker's year. They already sidelined him last season, and at the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign.
