Bournemouth's Dan Gosling Sets New Premier League Season Record for Distance Run

Published on: 03 January 2017

Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling set a new Premier League 2016/17 season record for distance covered in a single game when the Cherries faced Arsenal on Tuesday night, surpassing the previous best set by Liverpool's Adam Lallana.

Lallana ran 13.7km when Liverpool beat West Ham last month - he had twice previously set the record since Augustfor games against Leicester, and Tottenham before that.

But Gosling took things up a level and hit 14km when Arsenal arrived at the Vitality Stadium.

Gosling has started fewer games than he's made substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season, but he was clearly keen to give a good account of himself.

Bournemouth raced into an early 2-0 lead and looked to have the game sewn up when Ryan Fraser scored a third for the Cherries just shy of the hour mark. Onlya dramatic Gunners comeback ensured the points had to be shared andtook the shine off Gosling's night.
