BREAKING: Arsenal and Atletico Madrid fail to reach agreement for Partey

Published on: 27 July 2020

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have failed to come to an agreement over the transfer of Thomas Partey according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners made Partey their main target for the summer as Arteta looked to strengthen his midfield for next season.

However, they are not willing to pay his 50 million release clause. The Premier League side offered 25 million euros plus one player instead, an offer that Atletico Madrid do not want to accept. Atletico Madrid are firm on the release clause.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal can pay the release clause as they are currently struggling financially. It has been reported that they will only have 38 million pounds as their summer transfer budget.

Partey has been key to Atletico Madrid this season and produced admirable performances for the Madrid-based outfit.
