Ghana Premier League giant Accra Hearts of Oak has severed ties with its Director of Football and first-team head coach Kim Grant after losing the first match of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

The gaffer was in the dugout last Sunday afternoon when the Phobians hosted Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium in the opening weekend of the top-flight league.

At the end of a difficult encounter, the home team succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of their guests courtesy a strike from winger Jonah Attuquaye.

Barely 48 hours later, the management of Accra Hearts of Oak has through a statement on the club's official Twitter handle announced that they have parted ways with Kim Grant.

"Accra Hearts of Oak and Director of Football Kim Grant have parted ways. Edward Nii Odoom takes over with immediate effect as the head coach. The club would like to ask for continuous support for Coach Odoom and we wish Coach Grant the very best in his future endeavours", the statement said.
