BREAKING NEWS: Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey to miss Afcon doubleheader against Angola

Ghana defender, Tariq Lamptey will miss the doubleheader against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers this month.

The 22-year-old was substituted in the 16th minute in their game against West Ham on Saturday.

Lamptey is suspected to have suffered a knee injury and is expected to miss the games.

Ghana will host Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23 before honouring the return encounter in four days' time in Luanda.

The Black Stars will be hoping to solidify their stay at the top in the qualifiers. Ghana after two games are joint top of Group E alongside Angola with both teams with four points after two games.

Despite Lamptey's early exit, Brighton defeated West Ham 4-0.

Lamptey completed a nationality switch to the West African country in June.

The Chelsea academy graduate was part of the Black Stars squad that featured at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
