Midfielder Thomas Partey is set to miss Ghana's final round of games of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers after picking up a fresh injury.

The 27-year-old has been left of Arsenal's squad for their Premier League game against Watford.

Mikel Arteta speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game confirmed that the midfielder suffered a tight groin injury on Thursday.

"Thomas Partey is not on our squad today because he suffered a tight groin injury on Thursday at the training grounds," the Spaniard said.

"We are yet to know the extent of the injury," he added.

The Black Stars will be hosted at the Orlando Stadium by Ethiopia in Johannesburg on November 11 in the matchday five games.

Back at home, Ghana will host South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium in the final Group G games on November 14.

The winner of the group will book a place in the playoffs for the Mundial scheduled to be hosted in Qatar next.

As it stands, Partey who has been a livewire for Arsenal in the ongoing season will miss both games due to the injury.

Partey has scored once in the ongoing season in seven appearances for the Gunners.
