Premier League side, Southampton, and La Liga outfit, Sevilla are pushing to sign Ghana defender, Alexander Djiku on transfer deadline day.
The experienced centre-back came close to joining German Bundesliga side, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim this summer from FC Strasbourg but the deal fell through despite passing a mandatory medical.
Djiku made a return to Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1 where has so far featured five times and has scored a goal in the process in the ongoing 2022/23 season.
However, Southampton and Sevilla are battling for the services of the centre back according to RMC Sports before the window end tonight.
Djiku has previously been linked to Sevilla but the deal with the club did not meet the price tag of the French.
The Ghana international however has a year left on his contract with Strasbourg.
Djiku, who has been a key figure for the Black Stars is expected to make the squad for the 2022 World Cup scheduled to be hosted in Qatar later this.
