Brighton defender Gaetan Bong is chasing a new contract.

Bong is among eight players out of contract at the end of the season.

He told The Argus: “Maybe the hard part now is I am out of contract in the summer and I already have people calling me, stuff like that.

“The hard part is to try not to listen to everything. I could already sign with a club but I know if I signed I would be focused to help Brighton.

“I am a good person. If I'm there it's because I want to give everything. If not I would not be there.

“I think the team and the club will need me, because I bring something different."

Meanwhile, Brighton boss Chris Hughton was frustrated after defeat to West Brom.

He stated: “I thought we got into a lot of good areas, but what we didn't do was work the goalkeeper enough.

“They're probably the two areas - one, we've got to stop conceding, predominantly from corners, and two, we've got to be more productive in that final third.

“Some of our work to get there was good, we got into a lot of really good crossing positions, but we weren't productive enough in front of goal."
