Brilliantly Petty Contract Clause Set to Scupper Any Chance of Isco Moving to Barcelona

Published on: 24 February 2017

Since signing for Real Madrid from Malaga in 2013, Isco's career has slightly stagnated. The fleet-footed Spaniard is undeniably a huge midfield talent but he has struggled for game time among Los Blancos' star-studded roster.

Moves to the Premier Leaguehave been touted in the last three transfer windows, however, no such deal has materialised as of yet.

Madrid's arch nemesis, Barcelona, are suffering something of a midfield crisis at the minute which for the Catalan club, is very surprising.

Isco would be the perfect solution to their current woes but sadly, no move will occur for the time being. Well, at least until 2018.

As reported byMundo Deportivo, the Spanish international, like many Madrid players, has a clause in his contract which bans him from joining Spain's other giant - a sort of, anti-Barca clause, which is common at the Bernabeu.

Isco's contract ends in June 2018 but if he is seeking first team football before then, he'll have to look past Barca.

The two Spanish giants are currently locked in an enthralling title race. Madrid surrendered their considerable advantage on Wednesday evening as they lost one of their games in hand 2-1 to struggling Valencia.

This may have opened the door for Luis Enrique's side, however, they face an almighty task on Sunday afternoon as they make the trip to face Atletico at the Vicente Calderon.

It is shaping up to be yet another competitive La Liga race with Sevilla still very much in the picture. Isco will have a part to play this season under Zinedine Zidane, but a player of his quality commands a more fulfillingrole.
