Jonathan Kodjia had to go off in the second city derby with Birmingham City but still went on international duty with Ivory Coast
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has said striker Jonathan Kodjia's latest ankle injury "looks awful".
Kodjia, 28, was out for five months after breaking his ankle in April.
He suffered the latest injury while on international duty with Ivory Coast earlier this month.
"He's now seen a specialist in France - probably in the next 24-48 hours we'll know a bit more, but it doesn't look good. In fact, it looks awful if I'm being honest," Bruce told BBC WM.
"We fear another operation, which is bad news to us."
Kodjia, who scored 22 goals for Villa last season, has one goal in nine appearances this campaign.
