In a new report by Dutch outlet Voetball International, Bayern seem to be targeting PSV Eindhoven's young winger Cody Gakpo.
The Bavarian club has been looking for a replacement to the recently departed Douglas Costa, whose loan deal expired at the beginning of July. Apparently one of the touted options is Gakpo, and Bayern seem to have made contact with the player's entourage to see if there is any real possibility, even though Bayern sporting director Die Roten has not formally contacted PSV yet. The Dutch club's management is rumored to be asking for at least 30M Euros for the player, with Ligue 1 clubs Lyon Marseille and Lille all seemingly interested in the 22-year-old.
Gakpo's deal with PSV expires in 2025, so the club is in a strong position to demand a high fee, and it is uncertain if Bayern are willing to pay such a price for somebody who, at least initially, is not expected to be in their starting eleven. The young winger is an enticing prospect, and is a product of PSV's youth sector. Since 2018, he has played in 65 matches for the red and whites, scoring 15 times in the process. He has also featured with the Dutch national team in one match.
