Bundesliga closest to Premier League says West Ham defender Oxford

Reece Oxford believes that the Bundesliga is the most similar to the Premier League.

The West Ham United youngster has joined Borussia Monchengladbach on a season-long loan deal and he believes he can further his development by plying his trade in Germany.

He explained: "The Bundesliga is probably the closest league to the Premier League, intensity-wise, and the teams are as good as those in the Premier League.

"It's good to go out to Germany, experience the different teams and the different ways to play.

"I want the team to do well and challenge for a Champions League spot, because last year they missed out. Hopefully we can do that and win a trophy too!"

Gladbach had another Premier League loanee last season in Chelsea's Andreas Christiansen and Oxford is hoping to emulate the Dane's success at the Borussia-Park.

"Andreas Christiansen did well," he added. "He was here for two years. I played against him once and he's a very good player.

"Now he's back at Chelsea, so hopefully I can follow in his footsteps and help the team to progress.

"It's just such a great team. That's why I'm here, to fight for a good position in the table and win trophies."
