Commenting upon losing against Hoffenheim, after their pre-break win over Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig manager Jesse Marsch stated:

"That was the worst performance of our season. I'm really disappointed. We had a really good week of training and preparation. The only explanation I can find for our performance today is that Hoffenheim had a lot more will than us. I can accept defeats, but not when the only reason for it is because the opponent had a greater will. That is unacceptable for me. We had a phase in which we could have found our rhythm. However, that was very short and after that we let a lot of opportunities go untaken again.

We were not intense enough today. We didn't really get into the duels. We either didn't look to get into the one-on-ones or didn't win them. The team lacked conviction. I stressed from the start what a great opportunity this game and a good result would have been for us".
