Burnley\'s Hendrick, Everton\'s McCarthy out of Republic of Ireland qualifiers

Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick and Everton's James McCarthy have been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Serbia.

The pair have both picked up injuries, with Hendrick ruled out with a thigh strain, while McCarthy has a hamstring problem.

Hendrick's Burnley teammate Jon Walters is questionable after he failed to train following an ankle knock he received in the Clarets 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Sunday.

The Republic are second in Group D after six qualifying games, level on 12 points with Serbia and four points ahead of Wales and Austria.
