Ghana's Thomas Partey has been removed from the 2018 African Player of the Year Awards 10-man shortlist.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder last month made it in the 34-man shortlist with hopes of winning it for the first time.But failed to make it to CAF 10-man shortlist released.

Partey, was in impressive form last season with Spainish giant Atletico Madrid where their defeat of Marseille to win the Europa League was the end of a fine 2017-18 season. He established a first-team spot, where he started 28 league games guiding Madrid to finish second in La Liga Santander.

Partey again came off the bench in the final of the Uefa Super Cup in Tallinn in August - an occasion with added spice because Atletico were taking on fierce city rivals Real Madrid.

He became the first Ghanaian to feature in a Super Cup and assisted Saul Niguez, with a long range left foot pass to put Atletico ahead, winning 4-2.

The 10 players shortlisted will be proned to three before the awards night in January.
