Ghanaian giants, Hearts of Oak have called for fair officiating ahead of their Champions League clash against Wydad Athletic Club on Sunday.

The Phobians will progress to the money zone for the first time in many years if they are able to eliminate the Moroccan giants.

The 2000 Champions League winners goes into the reverse fixture with a 1-0 advantage and will hope for a favourable scoreline to secure qualification to the group stages of the Champions League.

The Ghanaian giants inflicted a 1-0 win over their opponents last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Isaac Mensah’s 41st minute strike was enough for the Phobians to record an important victory on home turf.

The winner of both legs will progress to the money zone whereas the loser drops to the CAF Confederations Cup.

Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated clash, the Communication Director for Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo says the club is focused on winning against Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) of Morocco in the second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture and has also called for fair officiating.

“The plan is to make sure that we keep the focus and concentration and put smiles on the faces of our supporters. We want to make Ghana proud. Our focus is not just to go there, sit down and expect them to beat us.

“We want to qualify after the 90 minutes. We are hoping that the referee from Gabon will give us fair officiating which is the spirit of the game”.
