CAF Champions League: It will be suicidal for me to say Medeama won’t progress over Remo Stars – Tony Aubynn

Medeama Sporting Club chairman, Dr. Tony Aubnn is upbeat ahead of the team’s encounter against Remo Stars in the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.

The Ghana Premier League champions are expected to face off with the team from Nigeria in the first round of the qualification to the Group Stage of the CAF inter-club competition.

Speaking to Graphic Sports, Dr. Tony Aubynn said he is confident Medeama SC will advance to the next round ahead of Remo Stars.

Although he admits it won’t be easy, the club chairman says it will be suicidal for him not to have belief in the Yellow and Mauve outfit.

''We have the men, and I think we have a good technical team. We are beefing up the team with a few other players, so I think we are capable of beating them, though I concede that they are not going to be a walkover, especially because they are an academy side.

''It will be suicidal for me to say we will not progress,” Dr. Tony Aubynn said.

The Chairman of Medeama SC added, “Everybody will be expecting us to progress; so we are very confident that we'll progress to the next stage, but we also have to admit that we're not going to play a walkover side.”

The first leg of the tie between Medeama SC and Remo Stars will be played on August 18.
